DICTIONARY OF OCCUPATIONAL TITLES (DOT): PART I - CURRENT POPULATION SURVEY, APRIL , AUGMENTED WITH DOT CHARACTERISTICS, AND PART II - FOURTH EDITION DICTIONARY OF DOT SCORES FOR CENSUS CATEGORIES [Computer file]. The process is similar to that used for Social Class based on Occupation (SC) and Socio-economic Group (SEG) in Volume 3 of the Standard Occupational Classification (Office for Population Censuses and Surveys ), which cross-classifies OUGs with employment status categories.

      The Singapore Standard Occupational Classification (SSOC) is the national standard for classifying occupations. The SSOC is used for censuses of population, household surveys and administrative databases. The SSOC adopts the basic framework and principles of the International Standard Classification of Occupations. The ASCO Coding System (Occupation Level) was developed to enable information to be coded to the occupation (6-digit) level of ASCO with a high degree of accuracy and consistency. Being a highly structured, rule based coding system, it is designed to utilise, in a systematic way, the title of an occupation and information about the main tasks.
